I'm managing backend and fullstack teams (React Native/Typescript frontend, Java/Kotlin backend on AWS) in Remitly responsible for creating and optimizing experience for customers going through risk and compliance verifications when sending money abroad. I work across with product managers, analysts and UX designers to improve life of immigrants around the world.
Created Risk Platform team which created flexible risk decisioning and verification platform allowing quickly add new risk features, plug in new fraud and compliance mitigations and introduce new risk decisioning strategies.
Led Fraud Prevention engineering team in Remitly which built and rolled out multiple fraud mitigations in Remitly including 3DS, Selfie ID verification and bank statement code verification allowing Remitly to save tens of millions of dollars in fraud costs while providing low friction verification to more than 100 thousand customers a day.
Bootstrapped and led Identity Verification team which was responsible for KYC flow for remittance app. Through numerous experiments and optimizations we were able to decrease manual processing of KYC rates 70%, provide frictionless experience to 1X thousands of customers per day and save company millions of dollars a year.
