  • Internet of Things (IoT), the new revolution of the internet is the result of a technological evolution where things have become locatable, uniquely recognizable and capable of communicating among themselves. This has led to ‘smart’ ecosystems, such as ‘smart agriculture’. This paper leverages on this innate ‘smartness’ of objects and proposes a product called ‘Intelligation’, an IoT based framework for intelligent irrigation of fields. The novelty of this product is in its simplicity of usage in the Indian Scenario by the Indian farmer who may not be too tech-savvy. Villages in India have erratic power-supply forcing farmers to manually switch on and off the motor, as and when adequate power is available, mostly well after mid-night. This product provides autonomous irrigation through the use of sensor actuators. Another unique feature is regulating the supply of water to the field taking into account weather predictions, so as to avoid water-logging and subsequent loss of crops. Extra add-ons such as constant book-keeping of the sensor-actuator values, smart metering etc enable the farmer to take informed decisions regarding his crops and yield
