At Amazon, I was part of the pricing tech team where I helped improve the pricing of all the products listed on the Amazon retail website by contributing to the following:
1. Designed and developed a rule engine specific to the need for pricing which has been put to many applications it was mainly intended to automate the mapping of similar products based on attributes like category, subcategory, colour, weight etc to reduce the need for manual mapper and to act as a source of truth for mapping of all products listed on Amazon worldwide and thus have competitive pricing of products listed on the amazon retail website at scale.
2. Further for the rule engine, we worked on text extraction using an ml-based XPath generator and numerical text extraction for specific product attributes, increasing the rule engine's scope for other applications like automated pricing audits and making amazon more price competitive across competitors.
3. Using the rule engine we improved the pricing of Amazon brand products which made the Amazon brand products more price competitive across similar products available in the market.
