• Joined as part of acquisition of Datacoral by Cloudera. As part of the R&D org Cloudera Innovation Accelerator we continued to work on building the next generation data platform.
• Led the design and development of containerizing the Datacoral orchestrator app so that it can be deployed inside a Kubernetes cluster and offered as part of Cloudera’s offering. Added ability to support connector and warehouse driver deployments as part of the orchestration itself thereby removing dependency on centrally managed Jenkins jobs in legacy Datacoral product.
• Designed and built CLIs to automate product provisioning flows.
• This was a major project which enabled Datacoral product integrate with Cloudera’s CDP One successfully after the acquisition.

• Part of the core team that built the end-to-end AWS-native serverless product that is used to ingest, load and transform data from 80+ data sources to warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, Apache Hive.
• Worked on the core platform that built infra microservices, deployment and runtime frameworks for ingestion and transformation with clear interfaces to support generic ingestion source or warehouse. Worked on the redesign of the platform to use dependency-based DAG architecture, built new warehouse drivers and improved existing warehouse drivers to support longer (>15 mins) queries using fallback computes.
• Built new datasource connectors and added features to existing connectors in the product. Led the development of 5 new datasource connectors some of which won us major new customers. Worked on improving and adding features to 15+ API connectors and database connectors for PG and MySQL (query based and replication based).

• Worked in the platforms team as backend developer. The work involved building and maintaining microservices for user identity management.
• Redesigned the User Profile Service. Used spring boot (legacy service used to be in Ruby on Rails). The service uses MongoDB for persistent storage, Elasticsearch for analytics querying and Kafka to maintain eventual consistency of data in Elasticsearch. The service uses Thrift to communicate with other services.
• This redesign reduced the service latencies by 50% and increased the throughput by over 100%.

• Optmyzr is a leading provider of enterprise-grade search marketing software for the ad platforms of Google, Bing, Facebook and Amazon. 4+ Billion USD of ad spend is managed through Optmyzr product by its customers. I was an early recruit (3rd engineer) in the company and conceptualized, designed and built a significant share of the capabilities in the product. Notable ones include:
• Optimization tools for PPC bidding across different segmentation criteria like geolocation, demographics and hour of the week. The tools analyze the KPI metrics of different segments and applies mathematical models to identify inefficiencies in the bidding strategies and readjust bids to achieve better page ranks for outperforming segments. By using these tools, customers achieved 5-10% increase in ROAS on an average.
• Techniques/algorithms used: PCA, power-regression, genetic algorithm.
• Cross account PPC budget management suite. It enables budget managers to setup budgets, track spend and performance across campaigns of multiple ad platforms. The spend-projection and budget-simulation features predict near-future spend projections and spend potential of ad campaigns. Several customers used Optmyzr product just for its budget management capabilities.
• Techniques/algorithms used: Time series projections (built in-house).
• Optmyzr Reporting Framework, a backend wrapper over the reporting APIs of different ads platforms supported by Optmyzr. The framework provides a single, consistent interface to retrieve metrics from different ads APIs. This greatly increased the developer velocity in the team in terms of building new capabilities in the product.
• MCC Pro Dashboard with integrated Alerts System, where advertisers track different metrics of ads accounts against given targets, monitor trends and get notified when performance starts declining.

Being the VP of the club, I had successfully negotiated with Startups to get projects for the club apart from exercising my regular responsibilities.
