Gautam Gare — Product Engineer
I am a fifth-year Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University, Robotics Institute, advised by Prof. John Galeotti and Prof. Deva Ramanan. My research focuses on developing causally-grounded and interpretable vision–language models (VLMs) for medical imaging. I design frameworks that align neural representations with clinician-understandable biomarkers, using causal discovery and contrastive learning to improve reliability, transparency, and generalization across patients and modalities. I obtained my Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at CMU in December 2020. Before coming to the US, I obtained my Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from B. M. S. College of Engineering, India.
