AS part of RBS decision to exit 25 countries there is requirement around archiving all the country specific data in a central repository which will provide a unified picture for all the structured as well as unstructured data. So as part of solution evaluation a POC was conducted using Cloudera version of hadoop. Was successful in setting up a VM cluster which contained 3 different datanodes. As part of the POC was able to sqoop data from various different structured data sources namely Oracle, Mysql and DB2. Also was able to configure Excel to start using the Hadoop repository using hive.
