• SafeNet smart cards and SafeNet iKey™ USB tokens are secure authentication devices that can hold user credentials, such as passwords, keys, certificates, or biometrics in a highly secure fashion. The cards/tokens can be used in both PKI and non-PKI environments.
• A credential provider is a COM based module that helps the users to Logon to the Local System or to a Remote System via Remote Desktop Client, using the credentials present inside the card/token. The credential can be either PKI or NON-PKI or in other words the credentials present inside the token can be either username/password/domain name of the user or Smart Card Logon Certificate of the user. To use the credentials inside the token, user have to either supply the password of the card/token or else if the token is biometric then have to supply the fingerprint.
