• I joined News to lead two of its small "enabler" teams - units that build libraries, developer tools and infrastructure used by the other engineers in the company. One of the teams worked on a GraphQL API Gateway, and the other on a collection of reusable React modules. My responsibilities were to mentor other engineers, lead the technical direction of the teams and do hands-on engineering work. I was also a line manager for some of the engineers, helping them with their professional growth and development in the company.

Jul 2019 – Nov 2021 · 2 yrs 4 mos

• I was the first engineer to join FT Sofia’s Specialist team. This team is responsible for all the FT’s niche titles like Investors’ Chronicle and The Banker. Our aim was to modernize those media's technical estate and move from monolithic architecture to a single platform using microservices. The tech stack was React, Node, GraphQL and AWS.
• I became the tech lead of one of the UI teams in Specialist and laid the foundation of our own design system. My responsibilities included the architecture of our new services and planning the upcoming work. Besides my technical responsibilities, I participated in interviews and helped hire many of our team members. I also helped a person that reported to me to successfully pass the promotion process.
• After Specialist, I joined FT's Content & Metadata team as a senior engineer. There I worked with Go, Kubernetes and Kafka on our publishing pipeline. We were responsible for validating and storing all the company's content.

Mar 2018 – Jul 2019 · 1 yr 4 mos · Sofia, Bulgaria

• I was a part of the front-end team, working actively on a massive UI overhaul of an incident response system. My works consisted of implementing existing parts of the product with modern technologies as well as bringing new and exciting features to life. The tech stack is React with Redux, Sagas/RxJS, TypeScript, Styled Components and SASS. I've also had to tweak Webpack for the various optimisations we are doing.
• Some of the projects I've had the opportunity to work on include different dashboards, data visualisation/analytics and custom content builders. Besides that, one of my main areas of focus is the performance of our app - making sure that our code arrives fast to the user and then runs seamlessly in the browser. The team is focused on keeping our stack up to date with the latest standards and adopts new technologies that could make the product and code quality even better.
• Besides working on the UI I got the chance to familiarise myself with technologies like Spring Boot, Docker and different architectural patterns.

Jun 2016 – Aug 2021 · 5 yrs 2 mos

• In this time period, I worked for multiple small agencies and two early-stage startups. Even had a go at building my own. For Weberest I created a small form builder application with React that allows moving companies to collect leads easily. In Probidder, a company in the real estate business, I worked on a large monolithic Laravel application and an Angular-based UI.
• Then I worked for Appzio, an early stage Bulgarian startup which was building a development platform for mobile application development. My responsibilities there, besides coding, included speaking, training and evangelising about the platform. In between those gigs, I worked for a small company operating in the agriculture business and created a web-based application for it from scratch. Later I partnered with them to create a startup in the agriculture area which unfortunately wasn’t successful. Either way, it taught us a lot.
• My last startup endeavour was leading a small team for Supercompute, a San Francisco based software company where we worked on an online multiplayer card game running as a React application. I laid out the architecture of the application, the game engine and the real-time communication with Firebase.
• I've worked with various technologies but predominantly JavaScript, React, AWS, MySQL and some PHP.

• I started working at Webvox as an intern and transitioned to full-time work shortly after that. This is the place in which I laid the foundations of my career in programming. At first I worked on small WordPress projects such as custom themes and plugins. Afterwards I worked on a project with the Laravel Framework and MySQL and a web application built with the MEAN stack.
