Preetam Kumar — Product Engineer

Dr. Preetam Kumar is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Patna. He did his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur in the area of Wireless Cellular Communications. He has around 28 years of teaching, research and industry experience. Physical (PHY) Layer Issues in Wireless Communications, Application of AI in 5G & 6G Networks, Error Control Coding and VLSI for Digital Communication Systems are his areas of research interest. He has published 150+ research papers in various refereed IEEE Journals, other peer reviewed journals and conferences. He has already guided 10 PhD scholars in important areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). He is a regular reviewer of premier journals and TPC member of various conferences. He was the organizing chair of first IEEE Symposium on 5G in Asia at IIT Patna in 2016. He has also successfully executed high value sponsored projects as well as consultancy projects from top industries. He has several Patents in the areas of wireless communication. He is the editor of Springer Wireless Personal Communication journal and Springer Wireless Networks. He is also mentoring a group of incubates who are working on developing low cost wireless systems as well reliable Remote Medicare Services using wireless technologies for critical patients. He took the lead as PI to establish Incubation Center in the area of ESDM with focus on Medical Electronics and IT enabled services at IIT Patna with financial support of more than 48 Crores from MeitY, New Delhi and DIT, Bihar Government.
