• I'm working on software solutions for cancer treatment (adaptive radiotherapy). My activity involves prototyping new image analysis and processing algorithms, backend development, and cloud computing.

• I worked on the design, implementation and testing of software for the AC800PEC embedded platform used in various power electronics real-time applications. I mainly developed communication protocols, VxWorks downloadable kernel modules, device drivers and interfaces for Simulink blocks.

• I was responsible for the development of the visualization software for TFR TRAXX locomotives (South Africa) and for the development of the diagnostic software for TRAXX MS locomotives (Europe).

• I contributed to the development of a generic real-time and safety critical platform (GE Tempo) used for train control and signaling application. I mainly implemented software components in C/C++ for different embedded platform (ARM, PowerPC, MicroBlaze): multiplatform microkernel, device drivers, communication protocols and bootloaders for remote upgrade of firmware over network.
• I was also responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of the software managing an high-precision on-board odometry subsystem including wheel speed sensors, radar motion sensors and balise transmission module.

• My PhD research was focused on the development of a real-time algorithm to estimate the 3D pose of a surface element from an image keypoint using statistical learning techniques. This work allowed me to gain an extensive knowledge about feature detection, description and matching, as well as about projective geometry. Research results have been published in the proceedings of international conferences and scientific books.

• I was involved in activities and projects of Visual Information and Media Laboratory (VIMLab) focused on automatic video annotation, content-based retrieval and intelligent video surveillance.
