Artificial intelligence is the most powerful tool humanity has created, and it will likely be present in our lives for the rest of them. Yet most conversations around AI treat it either as magic or as a collection of tools that only specialists can understand. This framing is not only inaccurate, it creates real decision risk for people responsible for capital, governance, and long-term outcomes. I’ve been building and working with AI systems since 2019, starting with early language models and following their evolution closely at the application layer. Over the years, I’ve built products, deployed systems, evaluated technological approaches, and advised senior leaders. Across all of this, one pattern remains consistent: AI is powerful, but misunderstood. The most serious failures with AI are rarely technical. They are cognitive. When leaders don't fundamentally understand how the technology works, where it is now and where it is going they tend to adopt weak mental models, their judgment relies on hype and external narratives, or worse, fear of missing out. My work on this platform focuses on helping senior decision-makers develop clear mental models of AI, ask better questions, and think more rigorously about risk, leverage, and responsibility. I rarely talk about tools, prompts, or shortcuts. I care about how people think about AI, because that ultimately shapes how capital is deployed, organisations are designed, and power is exercised. I write for people who think in decades, not quarters.
