About

I am a Systems Auteur: a designer, developer, and published science fiction author building at the intersection of AI, design, and product development. I created Zero Vector Design, a methodology for eliminating the translation layers between creative intent and execution. The core insight: the design-to-development pipeline is a multi-stage rocket, and most of the energy goes to overhead. Zero Vector eliminates the launch. I have worked across design, engineering, and product strategy at NASA, Intuit, Insulet, and Mural. I build things. I ship things. I write about why the way we build things is changing. Writing about the future of design and development at zerovector.design. Author of The Dauntless Gambit, a four-book science fiction series. Previously: IT Specialist and Digital Service Expert for AI Innovation at NASA. Design technologist at Intuit. Creator of the Practical Service Blueprint framework. Currently: Sr. Manager & Principal Service Designer at Insulet. I am available for FTE hiring, advisement, consulting, and speaking. See more at helloerikaflowers.com.

  • For decades, design has been an act of translation. We draw pictures of things and hand them to other people who build fifty percent of the vision. We call this a process. We call this collaboration. We call this the way it has always been done.
  • It does not have to be this way.
  • Zero-Vector Design is a new discipline. Not a tool. Not a framework. A fundamental shift in what it means to go from concept to customer. The entire pipeline, from research to shipping, reimagined for a world where we can now build in the medium of which we ship. Join the movement.
