With a foundation in software engineering and a keen interest in cloud technologies, I believe in thoroughly evaluating each use-case to choose the best-fit technology, rather than following trends blindly. I have had the privilege of leading the architecture and design for projects across various domains such as e-commerce, computer vision, machine learning, data scraping, and ETL pipelines. Tackling scalability challenges is something I find particularly rewarding. I am proficient with databases such as DynamoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, and have hands-on coding experience in Python and NodeJS, with an openness to Java and C++. My leadership style focuses on fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging continuous learning within the team. Currently, I am enhancing my AI/ML skills to gain a deeper understanding of these transformative technologies, which aids in better decision-making and project management. Outside of work, I enjoy mentoring entrepreneurs and discussing their startup challenges. I also have a passion for music, playing the flute and learning the guitar. Part of the platform team, worked on the backend microservices and core infra for a platform that handles 5 billion events per day for a real-time computer vision application.
Designed and developed an extensible framework to monitor, diagnose and automatically fix issues on the edge servers in a hybrid cloud environment which resulted in reducing the on-call debugging time from 20 minutes to under 1 minute.
Implemented an open source framework called MediaMTX to support video streaming, which had 10x lesser CPU utilisation for our use case as compared to the existing licensed system called Wowza. This effort also helped us to save on Wowza licensing fees.
Led the effort to improve database scalability and reliability, shifting away from a monolithic database and moving apps out into their own databases. Implemented application backend changes to undertake a major database migration with zero downtime, for an app that adds about 1.6 million records per day.
Owned the initiative to reduce AWS cloud costs, audited existing usage to come up with suggestions to reduce the costs and executed on the same.
Apart from this, I also participated in code reviews, design discussions and contributed to engineering on-call support.

Led the architecture & development of a flexible backend platform for running Data Scraping & Machine Learning workloads at scale, using technologies like Prefect (an alternative to Apache Airflow), GCP Cloud Run, Kubernetes, Python FastAPI and MongoDB.
Reduced failure rate by 80%, error resolution time by 50% and time to build new apps by 3x after migrating the apps to the platform. A case study was published on Prefect’s website for the same.
Dockerised a monolithic Machine Learning application and migrated it to Google Cloud, deployed using Google Kubernetes Engine. Decoupled the dockerized microservices by changing REST API calls to a queue based implementation with retries and DLQs.
Built a LinkedIn & Glassdoor scraper using Python Selenium with features like detecting and bypassing different types of CAPTCHA and bypass OTP sent on email. Deployed it in a distributed microservices form using Python Celery, RabbitMQ & Docker Swarm.
Devised a computer vision algorithm for reading Covid-19 test results from images of the test kit, achieved an accuracy of over 95%. Applied for a US patent (Pending - 63/053525) for the algorithm.
Worked on audio based search & recommendation system for textual content within PDF files for one of the departments of the US Govt. Used Speaker Diarization, Speech-to-Text and Named Entity Recognition, deployed using Python Django with MySQL and Neo4j DB.
