I am a Theorist, Writer and Academic currently a PhD Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Architectural History and Theory. I graduated from Aligarh Muslim University with B. Arch in 2015, from CEPT University in 2019 with an M. Arch in History, Theory and Criticism and from University of Oxford with MSc in Modern South Asian Studies in 2024. I am a columnist with publications like Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Outlook Magazine, Domus India, and The Leaflet - commenting on topics like Design, Culture, History, Literature, Socio-political Discourse, and Law. I won the international CEPT Essay Prize, 2019 for my essay on the theme 'Challenges of Dwelling in Asian Cities' and I am the recipient of the 2020 Scott Opler Fellowship to Society of Architectural Historians and the Richard Bonney Research Award, 2022, and Oxford Indira Gandhi Radhakrishnan Award 2023. I have taught History and Design Philosophy at CEPT University and National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and The Design Village, Noida as a Visiting Faculty. I am the Producer for the podcast ‘Mutant: The Democracy Podcast’, and have worked as a Research Collaborator with the Henry Luce Foundation and Sciences Po, Paris. I have worked in electoral politics and I contribute to public discourse through my columns and by featuring regularly in journalistic reports on architecture, urbanism, Indian politics and Muslim rights. I have given public lectures at Aligarh Muslim University, The Kochi Biennale, 2020, for National Alliance of People’s Movements; and I have been a feature artist in the exhibition Cartographic Anxieties at The Conflictorium, Ahmedabad. Along with being an avid reader and an art and science enthusiast, I pursue music composition as a professional percussionist and rhythm designer – performing live, contributing to albums as a session artist, scoring for independent films, as well as releasing my own singles. My latest film ‘Kayo Kayo Colour’ premiered at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.
