Moogic

Co-Founder

Jan 2013Jan 2019 · 6 yrs

  • Developed Django based website to support inhouse subscription application
  • Developed proof of concept mobile application to enhance the productivity of dealers in a niche market using the open source library Parse as the backend No-SQL database and authentication layer. While this application is predominantly developed in Android, it is also using MOE (Multi-OS Engine) so that it can be easily cross compiled to iOS
  • Co-developed and currently maintaining the engine that powers Magisto’s video generation tool
  • Replaced Magisto’s After Effects based engine with a custom-built Java based OpenGL engine
  • Implemented Jenkins to manage testing and build pipeline for releases
  • Integrated the company’s project editing logic into the engine
  • Developed and maintained a JavaScript After Effects exporting tool for the engine to consume
  • Developed an IDE so that designers can use to quickly see their After Effects projects being rendered by the engine
  • Wrote a NVIDIA GRID bridge so that the engine can use GRID technology for faster rendering

Software Engineer, Engine and Tools

Aug 2010Oct 2012 · 2 yrs 2 mos

  • All non trivial projects require a continuous build and integration system for testing. The engine team had none. I took over managing the CI system (Jenkins) from a colleague and rebuilt it after it crashed.
  • I also set up the build and testing pipeline. Whenever there was a code or design change, a build would trigger and the new data would be run against the test set.
  • To help testing, I also wrote a video sequencer to create videos and performance per frame graphs.
  • I extended JOGL to include a static OpenGL binding, so that GL calls can be done without the need to create a GL object.
  • Using OpenCV, I wrote a face detection system to pave the way for future development. I also used OpenCV to develop a proof of concept video stablisation tool.
  • I also used Maya and RealFlow to create a 3D fluid scene as a design proof of concept.
  • On the tool side, I wrote a FogBugz integrator, so users could file bugs directly from the tool, with pertinent information already precaptured by the tool.
  • I optimised the inhouse music analyser so that it can work ~4x faster.
  • Also, I took over the inhouse After Effects exporter and added features and validation to it. I also improved import times (from AE -> Engine). Export time went from "hey, I shall brew a coffee" to almost real time.

Used Django to implement a statistics reporting module, besides working on miscellaneous features required by this new shwup. Recently selected to join a small team to learn user experience and product/feature design.
