Saniya Varkhandkar — Associate Consultant
My journey as an instructional designer started at the age of 16 when I designed easy-to-remember answers for my brother who found it difficult to rote learn. I decided to use auditory learning as a solution and read out answers to him, and he memorized them quickly. Reading the letters, connecting them, and making sense of it as a word, and a sentence as a whole, was a bit time-consuming and stressful for him. Now when I look back, I realize, I've always enjoyed helping others learn. In college, as a literature student, I helped friends understand literary themes, theories, and abstract concepts. And now at work, as an instructional designer, I help organizations meet their training needs. In short, I simply made a career out of skills I was gifted with. And I feel that's very fortunate. Over the past 15 years, I've worked as an instructional designer and content developer for various e-learning organizations in India as well as globally. Some of the biggest eLearning organizations I've worked for include, Boston Scientific, Baxter International, Sutherland, Deltek, Johnson&Johnson, Sify, Tata Interactive Systems, and the American Psychological Association (APA). This has broadened my perspective of the whole idea of instructional design, and also helped me gain a repertoire of ID skills. My strength as an ID - I'm quick to decode highly technical content and structure it into easily digestible information using ID principles. As a consultant for some of the global organizations, I've designed and developed adult training programs for numerous businesses. From needs analysis, to SME interaction, to design, development, and project management, I have demonstrated my efficiency in all areas of the product cycle. PowerPoint, storyline 360 and Rise 360 are the three tools I absolutely love working with as they enable me to not only design, but develop highly engaging training materials very easily. I'm only seeking consultant positions in the field of Instructional Design. Here is my cover story as a Freelance Instructional Designer - published on Linkedin on 17 Aug, 2018: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6436290182064017408/
