• To augment Deloitte’s consulting business, they have created multiple licensed software assets. I joined the MissionGraph team to accelerate product delivery and help the company grow its product engineering capability. I led all aspects of engineering for the MissionGraph product, from software development to quality assurance to data science to operations. I reduced our time to deliver software through better, more automated SDLC processes, and by identifying technical debt and developing remediation plans. I grew our cross functional team from ten to twenty-five staff covering all disciplines. In addition, I advised the broader organization on hiring practices, software development processes, and technical architecture.

• At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic I volunteered some of my time to assist the state of New Jersey to track COVID-19 infections by advising on potential technical solutions. This work was performed via the United States Digital Response organization.

• The United States Digital Service, and its offshoot, the Defense Digital Service, bring highly motivated and talented private industry technologists into the Federal Government for tours of duty helping to make technology work better for the American people.
• Serving under the Office of the Secretary, I advised leaders and teams across DoD and other Federal agencies in efforts to accelerate cloud adoption, re-imagine military defensive and offensive cyber training, implement modern software development practices, and adopt open source software. My work included policy development, IT acquisition efforts, software application development, cloud implementations, and system integrations.

• The Iron Yard existed to create real, lasting change for people, companies and communities through technology education. The Iron Yard used immersive technical education and close mentorship to lead students from no technical experience to junior engineers, focusing on sustainable development practices and modern architectures. I taught multiple cohorts of students as well as leading a team of instructors across 20 campuses providing mentorship, professional growth, and guidance on instruction methodologies and current best practices.

• StrongLoop was founded by Node core contributors and helps companies succeed in Node.js through open source contributions and enterprise subscription software to create APIs, run Node applications in production, and manage and enforce API policies through our gateway. I led developer advocacy for API development best practices and methodologies for StrongLoop prior to being acquired by IBM where I grew the team from one to four engineers. In addition to engaging developers at conferences and usergroups, I managed in-depth training programs for clients, wrote blog posts, recorded webcasts, and developed numerous prototype applications. I drove awareness and adoption of our performance monitoring solutions, enabling our clients to scale their systems.

• appendTo was a leader in front end software development and thought leadership. I led multiple teams of 100% remote engineers - both on projects and as a mentor - developing software for large clients like Lenovo, Bloomberg News, and Microsoft. I embedded with multiple organizations to train their personnel in software development and agile methodologies and maintained multiple open source projects.

• During my time at Ten Fast Feet I led and grew the application development team from one developer to four plus a project manager, engaging clients and completing projects of all sorts, including complex web UIs, native mobile applications, responsive web sites, and in depth database integration. Our primary toolset was a standard LAMP stack (PHP), although many of our projects required different tools for different tasks. In addition to leading the application development team, the senior partners looked to me for guidance on a number of technical topics, including directoring our infrastructure improvements.

• MobileCampaign is a startup funded by Jumpstart Foundry in Nashville, Tennessee; the primary product is an SMS based marketing tool and dashboard for small to medium sized business utilizing the Twilio API. I was brought in early on to develop the initial product and get a proper environment set up. I worked closely with the business partner to steer the product development roadmap in a way that would be beneficial for the company at large in addition to coding the first version. The first version of the product was developed in house and released in about six months.

• I am the founder and lead developer for TripLittle - the most simple to use complete travel planning and organization web site around. What began as a side project turned into a helpful tool used by people around the world. I brought this project from concept to implementation and developed all marketing materials and business documents.

• I spent my time at Blue Coat developing web-based applications for monitoring network activity and health supporting thousands of devices. These products were built using a range of technologies mostly using a Java server and a very robust JavaScript layer (a think client). Later in my time at Blue Coat we began working with Adobe's Flex framework. In addition, I assisted in the continuing education of employees by attending conferences and providing in-house informational sessions on many topics.

• As a developer at the University I created and maintained a variety of mainframe and web-based applications using many technologies. I sat on an advisory counsel tasked with clarifying the strategic direction of technologies and resources used by the University at large. Additionally, I created and implemented a series training courses for web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) to assist in the continuing education of both new and experienced developers.

• Throughout my career I have worked on a variety of projects ranging from small web sites to complex, full stack web applications. These experiences include work for organizations large and small, from large corporate offices to public universities. I have spent the last 15 years working to transform the web into the applicaiton platform that it is today.
• In addition to full stack application development I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others through instruction at various levels. I have taught professional development classes, community programming courses, and conference workshops. I speak regularly on all manner of web development topics at local user groups, barcamps, and regional and international conferences.
• Finally, I contribute much of my time to open source projects large and small, from simple issue filing and tracking to bug fixing and question answering. I maintain a few code repositories in addition to contributing code to a number of others.
