His team ran a pilot “We, The People” NGO at Goregaon Station in December, 2009 and the casualty that year got reduced from 4000 death in year of 2009 to 2300 deaths by 2021. Around 800,000 people joined in the movement which include school going children, parents and members of housing society. Taking a cue from the walking stick used by the blind, Gangar and his team in collaboration with IIT-Mumbai developed an illuminative LED stick that sets a visual alert to a vehicle driver when an LED stick-wielding elderly crosses the street.
