  • Linked Data Intranet (DB Link)
  • Created a Knowledge Graph for the Fixed Income Derivatives trading desk. The graph links together data from over seventy different systems and enriches the entities with ontological metadata. The result improved risk control, automated many manual processes, discovered important insights for the traders and correlated with increased desk profitability.
  • Scaleless architecture: decentralised microservice publishers with intelligent crawl and cache linked data browsers
  • Natural Language 'semantic search'
  • RESTful ‘named query’ API for application integration
  • Type templated semantic wiki and Excel add-in
  • Convolutional Graph Neural Network (Experimental)
  • Front Office, bonds, ETFs, exotics, market data
  • C#, Java 8, RDF, OWL, SPARQL, RDF4j, Jena, HDT, Linked Data Fragments, WPF, Excel-DNA, ConvNetSharp, QuickGraph, Virtuoso, Information Workbench
  • Risk Cube
  • SSAS based risk visualisation tool for managing front office risk. The Risk Cube allows users to identify the risk profile of a given book/portfolio, potentially identify patterns for mis-booked trades and provide insight into hedging strategies for both book management and client trades. Using (C#, Scala, SSAS, SQL Server, Maven, Excel)
  • Improved ETL performance by 60% - processing several billion facts each day.
  • Working directly with the Front Office to build new features.
  • Created a usage monitoring cube allowing detailed analysis of usage patterns.

  • Asset Realisation Tool (ART)
  • Cross asset valuation system using: C# UI (WPF/Winforms, DevExpress, Spring.NET) and Java backend (Spring, Hibernate, Castor, Apache Commons, ehCache) with TIBCO middleware and Microsoft SQL Server database.
  • Reduced UI development time by two-thirds for the creation of standard screens by building a dynamic Winforms UI that automatically forms itself around metadata.
  • Developed a WPF version of the dynamic UI (also moving from MVP to MVVM).
  • Transformed the waterfall process into an Agile Scrum based process resulting in 100% delivery on committed items in each sprint.
  • Technical lead on ART Strategic Development (RENO) Team using Kanban.
  • Client money Data Analysis and Reporting Tool (CDART)
  • System to identify, analyse and calculate client money entitlement using: C#, ASP.NET, DevExpress, MCV, jQuery (+UI), knockout, jqGrid, WCF and SQL Server 2008.
  • Carried out performance optimisations (including distributed caching) and gained an average improvement of 85% for reads across the application.
  • Introduced MVC, jQuery, Knockout and jqGrid.
  • Mentored on TDD.
  • IT Simplification
  • Architected the decommissioning of the TPT system; extracting live data and documents into SharePoint

  • Trade Capture UI - Technical Lead on the design and development of multithreaded, dynamic, event driven (duplex WCF) UI. The UI featured adaptive screens that built themselves around the combination of asset classes selected, a natural text business rules designer, large and fast moving data grids and high levels of user customisation.
  • Prime Services Trade Capture Server - Led the design and development of the new strategic, high performance / throughput, low latency, multithreaded, cross asset Trade Capture platform for RBS Prime Services (.NET 3.5, WCF, TIBCO EMS, Business Works, SQL Server 2008).
  • Exotic Options - Worked with Font Office traders to analyse and develop the extension of the system to capture, match, book and monitor Digital/Binary and Barrier options.
  • Credit Default Swaps – Added automated capture and booking of Single Name and Index CDS trades into the RBS PB platform.
  • IRD Billing Engine – Worked directly with Front Office analysts to convert Excel based billing algorithms into C# and integrated this asset class into the existing billing engine.
  • Client Onboarding – Onboarded FX (spt, fwd, swp) trades from many new hedge funds (refactoring the existing codebase along the way). Worked directly with the Front Office and was the technical specialist at key client meetings.
  • Continuous Integration – Created a generic Nant script, added all projects into CC.NET, migrated the code from VSS to Subversion and standardised the Solution structures. Also added regression tests to existing codebase and mentored and implemented TDD on new projects.
  • Performance Optimisation – Analysed the application servers and databases to identify and remove key performance bottlenecks.
  • Second Line Support – Was always willing to troubleshoot issues with the live systems.
