Research Fellow in Quantum Optimisation and Machine Learning at Quantum Technology Theory Group

Jan 2014Jan 2016 · 2 yrs

  • I was a Research Fellow coordinating the Quantum Optimisation and Machine Learning project (a fixed-term pure research position at the level of Lecturer/Assistant Professor).
  • The Quantum Optimisation and Machine Learning Project is a joint endeavour between the University of Oxford, Nokia and Lockheed Martin. The aim of the project is to understand the potential for quantum technology to enhance optimisation and machine learning tasks. Besides theoretical research, the project profited from access to the D-wave quantum annealing system through Lockheed Martin and later through NASA.
  • My work involved research through academic publications and development of intellectual property, as well as supervision of students and visitors. On the project management side, I was involved in liaising with industry partners and other academic groups, as well as in setting the scope and future direction of the project. Furthermore, I worked as a College Lecturer at Worcester College, where besides teaching, I was also involved in undergraduate admissions. I also acted as an outside consultant in machine learning for a London based analytics startup.
