He is an expert in venture capital, private equity, entrepreneurial finance, innovation, corporate finance, and financial decision-making. His work has been published in major academic journals and received numerous prizes and awards. His research has also been featured in a variety of public media, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Ilya is the founder and faculty director of the Stanford GSB Venture Capital Initiative that brings together academic researchers and practitioners to advance and promote research and teaching on innovation and venture capital. At Stanford, Ilya teaches on venture capital, angel financing, and private equity. He has been honored with the GSB MBA Distinguished Teacher Award, the highest award Stanford MBA students can bestow on a professor.
