About

Meera Shenoy is described as a "pioneer" for market -linked skilling of underprivileged youth including youth with disability, at scale. She has done this important work for India by setting up the first state govt Skilling mission ,working with multilateral funders and now as a Social entrepreneur focusing on the most vulnerable youth with disabilities. She is now often called " divyang naukri" lady for setting up South Asias' first AI driven cutting edge tech platform called SwarajAbility. The building blocks of her work is a belief in the potential.of the poor and using tech.for transparency and scale. For over a decade now Youth4Jobs has been her mission and vision to create a more inclusive and equitable society . As the founder and leader of this social enterprise, she has scaled it to work for employers to ensure it makes business sense. Her grassroot work has become demand driven with governments inviting her to work in their states. Her work encompasses honing the creative skills of persons with disability through the unique Global Ability Photography Challenge which highlights photography skills of the disabled and has scaled in four years to 30 countries. Her work has won several awards ranging from MIT Solve to being a Harvard case and being featured in the Hon'ble Prime Ministers' "Mann ke Baath". Her passion for disability inclusion stems from her previous work as a project expert for the World Bank, where she supported poverty alleviation and youth employment initiatives in South East Asia. She also contributed to the skilling and employment strategies for low-income states in India, as part of the support team to the Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office and the UNDP. She believes in humility, compassion, and views herself as only a Facilitator. This helps her support others seamlessly and strive to remain egoless, like the lotus flower of the Bhagvad Gita

  • I worked with the World Bank as their expert in youth and employment in their poverty alleviation projects across South east Asia..My focus was on building new models and capacity building of the teams in different states including Bihar. In Jeevika I helped put youth strategy in place, set up community owned migration resource centre inaugurated by the Chief Minister. ...While I leverage my experience of building the countrys first Jobs mission in AP and taking it to scale over six years, each state is so different, that there are no cut and paste solutions. This and the opportunity to bring sustainable change in young lives makes the work interesting.
