Most beauty and cosmetic products display a symbol of an open jar with a number followed by the letter "M," representing the number of months the product remains safe to use after opening. This graphic signifies the Period After Opening (PAO) expiry. On food products and medicines PAO expiry is mentioned as “Use within __months of opening”.
However, majority of users overlook the PAO either due to lack of awareness or the absence of an easy tracking method, as PAO is dynamic and starts from the moment the product is opened. This results in products being used well beyond their expiration, leading to potential health issues and loss in repeat sales for manufacturers.
TARA is a revolutionary visual indicator that tracks the PAO of skincare and cosmetic products, alerting consumers when the safe usage period has expired. It activates upon the first use of the product, displaying a blinking green light while the product is still safe and switching to red as it approaches or surpasses its PAO. The indicator, otherwise dormant, activates only during user interaction, ensuring consumers are always informed about the product's status, promoting safety and boosting repeat sales for manufacturers.
