About

See me in full colour on my profile: www.opine.works 👀 I’m a product and growth consultant with a sweet spot in early and growth-stage B2C startups. I’ve driven double-digit MoM growth for 4 years at Plum Guide and Heights, consulted for Spotify, and am a serial founder. I approach every business bespoke, but the overarching goal of my work is to shape the backbone of a successful company. Typically, I help founders: - Define the north star metric and key growth levers - Prioritise and implement lightweight structure to empower teams - Build a curious, user-obsessed culture - Chart a systematic path to PMF - Drive sustained growth through experimentation - Hire A+ players, coach early team members - Reclaim their own time for the highest impact work I value high standards but bias to pragmatic 80/20 solutions. Every project is an opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun. Hotspots include: longevity, brain health, nutrition, supplements, marketplaces. 📩 If you’re a founder at seed–Series A and need fractional product leadership or help with growth, DM me here, or see my case studies at www.opine.works

Heights

Head of Product

Mar 2020 – Feb 2022 · 1 yr 11 mos · London, England, United Kingdom · Remote

  • Heights is building the braincare category, backed by Forward Partners and Deciem co-founder ($2.2bn exit). As employee #1, I played a foundational role in our hiring, culture, standards, process, product and growth (£16k to £200k+ MRR).
  • __
  • Built the team, culture and process to drive a net 620% improvement in CR over 18 months and 74 experiments, with a 46% success rate. Notable themes were value prop, trust-building, merchandising and best-practice UX.
  • Got obsessively under the skin of why people were staying, and why they were leaving, which allowed us to reach a healthy 58% 6 month retention rate, and keep blended monthly churn below 8% through the rough waters of new and scaling acquisition channels
  • Resigned and rebuilt the full e-comm, customer portal, CRM and blog experience, going headless (Gatsby, Contentful) to create the infrastructure that enabled maximum flexibility and agility for rapid experimentation
  • Pivotal in instilling a user-centric learning culture across every touchpoint (incl regular user research, a customer community and cs ticket, review, competitor and PMF analyses) that guided most of our decision-making
  • Built Heights for Slack, and reachmyheights.com as standalone experiences to make braincare simple for a wide audience, led our comprehensive Metabase BI setup
  • Built a product team of A+ players across product, engineering, design and research, only hiring people who raise the average standard of the team (increasingly hard!)

The plum guide

Product Director

Jan 2018 – Mar 2020 · 2 yrs 2 mos · London, United Kingdom · On-site

  • Plum Guide aims to become The Michelin Guide for holiday homes. A hyper-growth startup, backed by the same VCs as Wise + Citymapper, I joined as employee #19 right after Series A (now 120+ people), raised Series B in Feb 2019. I was the sole product person for most of 2018.
  • __
  • Drove 15% MoM growth throughout 2018, aided by a new process that successfully prioritised the apples and oranges of SEO, site speed, UX, pricing algorithms, landing page optimisation, lifecycle comms, customer referral, lead gen, internal host and guest sales tools and plenty more
  • Improved overall site CR by 28% with one experiment, which led to a full suite of related growth-driving initiatives
  • Rebuilt our host onboarding journey, which reduced operational overhead by 75% and decreased time from host signed to live on site by 78%
  • Rebuilt the checkout flow which increased performance of the product globally by 9.9%
  • Scaled the team to four squads, led localisation of the product from one country and one language to nine countries and seven languages

Kamet

Senior Product Manager [Contract]

Oct 2017 – Jan 2018 · 3 mos · London, United Kingdom

  • Fixter (part of Kamet at the time) is a startup that provides car maintenance on demand. I was brought in for 8 weeks to drive growth.
  • Commissioned rapid nat-rep research to help the company re-position themselves in the sweet spot by understanding what problem they were solving, for who, and what messaging would resonate best
  • Led a full re-brand and site re-design in line with the above learnings (complete from start to finish in 6 weeks), which improved conversion rate by 38% overnight

Haircvt

Co-Founder

Jan 2014 – Apr 2017 · 3 yrs 3 mos · London, Paris

  • We set out to own people’s relationship with their hairdresser - and built a marketplace to do just that, in London and Paris. A pivotal professional experience for me. Biggest lesson learnt: over-invest in making sure you’re solving the right problem.
  • Built, led and developed a team of (cost) efficient superstars, ran lean processes, made sure the team were always out of their comfort zone but working with a smile on their face
  • Ultimately we built a business I’m still extremely proud of and had 35% MoM revenue growth over 6 months in 2016, but just couldn’t make the unit economics work
