Nitesh Dogne — Co-Founder
Maybe I am not very good at saying what I feel. That might be why I like photographs, sketches, and drawings. through them, I can say everything without having to speak. Nitesh Dogne is a Commonwealth Split-site PhD Scholar 25' at the University of Bath, United Kingdom and a Doctoral Candidate at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His research investigates how Bhil communities manage natural resources such as water, energy, biomass, and waste through regenerative, circular, low-carbon, and ecologically embedded practices. While dominant development models often label these regions as ‘backward,’ their near-zero-carbon lifestyles, efficient use of natural resources, and deep ecological wisdom offer critical insights for achieving SDG 11 [Sustainable Cities and Communities], SDG 6 [clean water] and SDG 7 [clean energy], especially in the Global South. Raised in a small agricultural village in central India, his work is grounded in extensive field immersion. Over the past decade, he has travelled to more than 500 Indigenous villages across India, documenting settlement morphology, ecological practices, and vernacular building systems through participatory and visual research methods. He is the only Commonwealth scholar awardee from 57 countries in the architecture & planning discipline. also He is a DAAD Scholar (Germany, 2022) and was nominated for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF, 2023). Has received the Best Student Award 2014 for the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, for innovation and research contributions. Document and design Traditional systems in regions, cities, and dwellings by implementing regenerative and circular design principles, co-designing with living systems. Beyond academia, he is a traveller and observer of landscapes, often documenting people, culture and rural regions using slow modes of travel—walking, cycling, buses, and bullock carts. He is also a lover of chai (tea), regional food, poetry, and debating.
