I was thinking about how to best summary my work experience, and realized this is actually a hard and interesting question. What is one's elevator pitch for one's career!? What's my super-power? After some reflection, for what it is worth, here it is: I am good at understanding new emerging businesses/industries (and the crux of the problems they are tackling) and being able to come up with a solution for them that can be highly leveraged. For example, my first job (20 or so years back then) was to improve consumer's telecommunications. I solved this by contributing to an OSI seven-layered platform that allowed operators to better configure, account for, measure performance, and deal with fault in their networks. In other words, highly leveraged across the telco industry. My next job was around capacitating a flood of IT enterprises to move from manual systems to run distributed in the Internet. This was done by developing platforms, such as CORBA, and, later, JEE application servers, and, finally, Web-Service (SOAP and REST) stacks. The next wave of problems was around integrating these applications that have moved to the Web, but were otherwise isolated and too rigid. My solution to this was the creation of workflow systems, orchestration languages, and stream processing engines. Next came the era of data and machine learning. For this, I architected data-intensive deep-learning platforms, solving, for example, the problem of predicting customer demand world-wide for Amazon. Most recently, I designed the supply-chain and optimization platform for the complex problem of fast-delivery of perishable goods at scale with efficiency (while at a pandemic!). A problem that needs to be solved by combining engineering, science, and operations. My current and newest challenge is in health - what's the future of wellness forward customer's healthcare experiences!?
