I study how AI and other transformative technologies impact our economy and society - and I've spent my career turning that research into real policy and real companies. The drive to understand the biggest revolutions of our time has taken me from Toulouse, Utrecht, UCLA, and MIT to Harvard's Growth Lab, where I work on the fundamental questions: how technology drives growth, what industrial policy should look like in the age of AI, where the jobs of the future will come from. Clarivate and RePEC rank me among the world's top 1% most cited scientists. But I've never been able to leave research in the lab. In 2023 I joined CEPS - the largest EU think tank, to lead a data science team that turns that thinking into policy that moves - AI strategy, industrial policy, Ukraine's reconstruction and we built AI World. I advise the European Commission on innovation policy and work directly with governments navigating the hardest questions of technological change. And I build - because I can't truly understand technology without making something with it. I co-founded General Robotics, Argos, and 71West, each one targeting a gap between the lab and the market I believed worth closing. I bring all of this to the stage at Slush, VivaTech, and Unleash World, and into the classroom with business leaders who need to act on AI, not just understand it.
