Joined as a Senior Software QA Engineer and grew to become a QA Architect, an example career path created for those who want to pursue individual contributor role as a tester in India.
During the 5 years, I worked for McAfee Labs, the reserach wing of McAfee, in anti-malware domain. I worked for the core anti-malware engine team as well as the middle-tier next generation anti-malware core team.
The later part of my tenure was mostly around creation on two test automation frameworks in Python, the latter being used by multiple teams by McAfee Labs.

I worked in the StateFarm ODC (Insurance domain). This is where I started my career by executing already designed test cases for a few months, moved to a very large scale database migration project ( from IMSDB to DB2 ), played the role of an RBC Lead.
I spent the later months on test automation of a dynamic insurance claims application using SilkTest. Also, did a PoC on performance testing using SilkPerformer, which formed the basis of my career move to AppLabs to become a full time performance testing professional.

My first job. As clueless as any other fresher. A foundary. Sand in the air. A very different picture from what one would think about mechanical industry. Nice people.
But then. Why am I doing what I am doing?! Managed to get hold a couple of good projects but for a very short duration in mechanical automation.
Strikes happened. Twice! The second one led me to change my domain from mechanical to software. Thus began the journey of me becoming a software tester. Part fate, part luck, part grace. I'm very happy about the circumstances which led me to where I am - a proud tester.
