• I was employed at Over, where I helped to develop their Android app as a greenfield project. From the outset, we chose to employ techniques and technologies from Modern Android Development: 100% Kotlin, generous use of Architecture Components from AndroidX/Jetpack, usage of Material Components for Android and much more.
• I worked on features such as: text layer rendering, project editor transitions/animations, shadow rendering, most of the shape layer support and a themes/styles architecture that was maintainable and made for an easy migration to support dark theme in Android 10.
• Interestingly, as my time at Over progressed, I became more involved in the design team. I frequently submitted mockups and specifications to the Android team via a combination of Sketch, Abstract and Zeplin.

• I contributed to a large portion of the Luno Bitcoin Wallet app for Android. My responsibilities involved maintaining the app codebase, dependencies and features. I took pride in ensuring the app adhered to good coding practices, kept up to date with the latest native Android standards, maintained a high crash-free percentage and complied with the Material Design spec. I liaised with designers to assess the feasibility of proposed UX/UI for new and existing features and implemented these features. I worked with the Luno backend team to ensure API changes were best for new feature development and backwards compatibility (across platforms). I ensured that the app was shipped to customers in a timeous manner, while maximising stability through a strict release and testing procedure.

• My projects included:
• A collaboration with RealityGate (Stellenbosch-based advanced UX/UI company) involving Spatial User Interfaces (SUIs). I implemented their mathematically-refined user interface models into practical Android/iOS mobile apps (eg. Image Gallery, Music Album Browser, Contacts List, etc.) which were pitched to BMW, Tesla, Apple, etc.
• A lead development role in Candide (f.k.a Babylonstoren) - a social network and community database for plants.
• A lead development role in Media24 3D - an Augmented Reality app for Android/iOS for high-profile South African media client, Media24.
• An assistant developer role in Group Connect - a geo-location and social networking app.
