If there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s this: raising four kids is excellent training for building AI systems — both involve unpredictable behavior, sudden noise bursts, and the occasional meltdown (sometimes mine). I’m Neethu Mariam Joy, Co-Founder & CTO of SuperBryn, where we’re on a mission to make Voice AI actually behave itself. My love story with speech technology began during my PhD at IIT-Madras and continued into my postdoc at King’s College London, where I spent years teaching machines how to listen. (Still working on getting my children to do the same.) After a stint as an AI Scientist in international companies, I traded corporate comfort for the chaos of entrepreneurship in 2023. We first built an enterprise search startup… then promptly pivoted — because startups, like toddlers, rarely follow the original plan. Today at SuperBryn, I get to combine deep research with practical engineering to help enterprises deploy voice agents that don’t hallucinate, panic, or forget what you just said.
