Xuedong D. Huang — CTO
As Chief Technology Officer at Zoom, I lead the company’s AI transformation to improve communication, collaboration, and productivity for hundreds of millions of users. This includes advancing the Zoom AI Companion and a pioneering federated AI architecture—orchestrating Zoom’s small language models with frontier LLMs—to deliver secure, multilingual, and agentic capabilities that take work from conversation to completion. Over four decades in AI, I’ve helped shape the field. At Microsoft, I served as Technical Fellow and CTO of Azure AI, leading teams to industry-first human-parity breakthroughs in speech recognition, machine translation, conversational AI, and multimodal intelligence. I also partnered with OpenAI to launch Azure OpenAI Service, bringing frontier generative AI to enterprises globally with security and compliance at the core. I hold 170+ U.S. patents, have authored 120+ papers and two books (including the widely used Spoken Language Processing), and am an elected member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, as well as a Fellow of IEEE and ACM. I’m committed to AI for Good: expanding accessibility (such as free captions in Zoom and in Microsoft products), supporting underserved languages, and helping preserve cultural heritage. My mission is to advance human-centered, trustworthy AI that helps people connect, collaborate, and thrive.
