Sean M. Lyons is the Senior Vice President and General Manager responsible for Akamai’s Application & Infrastructure Security within the Security Technology Group. In this role, he oversees the company’s strategy and product direction for industry-leading solutions such as Prolexic, Edge DNS, App & API Protector, Bot Manager, Account Protector, Brand Protector, and Client-Side Protection & Compliance to ensure that customer environments remain highly available and protected against growing, dynamic cyber threats. With a blend of security, technical, and business acumen, he is responsible for profit and loss, creating and executing strategies that grow Akamai’s security business, leading engineering and product management teams, and collaborating across the company and with customers to develop products. Lyons brings more than 25 years of extensive experience within the security domain. His career at Akamai began in 2014 following the acquisition of Prolexic Technologies, where he was formerly the Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Sales & Partnerships. His previous roles at Akamai include Vice President of Web Security Specialization, Vice President of Global Enterprise & Prolexic Product Line Sales, Vice President of the Advanced Technologies Group, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infrastructure Security Solutions & Services. Prior to Prolexic, Lyons served in leadership roles at McAfee and SafeBoot. He has a bachelor’s degree of liberal arts in History and Education with a minor in Psychology from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
