Saurabh, a distinguished alumnus of the (CP)DM department, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, earned his Master's degree in Product Design in 1999. (CP)DM played a pivotal role in transitioning his hobby into a profession with a strong design foundation. Soon after, in 1999, he embarked on his professional journey as an Automobile Designer at Swaraj Mazda, followed by a pivotal move to India's leading automotive firm, Maruti Suzuki, in early 2003. At Maruti Suzuki, he has made substantial contributions to the company's design heritage. His early design assignments involved rejuvenating iconic models such as the Esteem, Omni, Estilo, WagonR, and Alto through strategic facelifts. He also led initiatives in the field of vehicle accessorisation through theme based limited editions like Alto X-fun and Estilo Sport. In 2008, his exceptional work on the Concept A-Star, Maruti Suzuki's first concept car, earned him the prestigious "Young Achiever of the Year" award from Auto Monitor. Over the years, his creative guidance played a crucial role in designing Brezza generations, New WagonR, New Alto etc, all of which have solidified their positions as India's best-selling cars. Under his creative direction, Maruti Suzuki's Design and Modeling teams have matured significantly, adopting new advanced Digital workflows and strategic Design Management. These highly competent teams have been consistently delivering award-winning products across product categories like Concept Futuro-e, Fronx and recently launched all new Dzire etc. Beyond his professional endeavors, Saurabh's enduring passion for design extends to supporting "Create in India" initiatives through active involvement with academia, SIAM & CII design groups. He also pursues his passion for mobility through his hobby of mountain and gravel cycling.
