Rejimon Kuttappan — Product Engineer
https://www.rejitalks.in/ I am a Forced Labour Investigator, Independent Journalist and Author of Undocumented-Penguin 2021. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to raising awareness of critical social issues. My experience aligns perfectly with the requirements of a forced labor investigator. I have a proven track record in identifying forced labor through undercover on-site visits, interviewing exploited workers, desk research, supply chain mapping and establishing forced labor. In addition to my experience identifying forced labor, my background as a journalist and migrant workers' rights activist/researcher has equipped me with the following skills: understanding and developing reports, crafting communication strategies and storytelling. This combination of skills allows me to go beyond simply identifying forced labor. I can effectively communicate these issues and generate impactful stories that raise awareness and promote change. I speak Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and English, which can help to cover majority of the focus area of investigation in India or Arab Gulf. For the past 15 years, I have worked as a full-time and independent journalist (currently), independent migrant rights researcher, forced labor investigator for global organizations. • In February 2024, I spearheaded the Associated Press investigation into forced labor within the Indian shrimp industry and the environmental challenges it poses in Andhra Pradesh, one of the South Indian State. https://apnews.com/article/india-shrimp-seafood-industry-labor-abuses-us-imports-e5b51878eafbb6e28977710b191eb7de • Interestingly, in 2022 and 2023, twice I was one of the lead investigators for Corporate Accountability Lab (CAL) in probing forced labor among Indian workers in the Indian Shrimp Industry. The report came out this March 2024. https://corpaccountabilitylab.org/hidden-harvest • In 2022, I investigated forced labour, modern day slavery and migrant rights violations among migrant worker in Qatar for Human Rights Watch in connection with Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. • Between 2020 and 2022, I also investigated Wage Theft for Migrant Forum in Asia. • Between 2017 and 2020, I worked for a UK-based organization as an Indian investigator, delving into modern-day slavery among migrant workers in multinational companies with branches in the Gulf Cooperation Council and headquarters in the UK and other European countries. I also spearheaded the forced labor / child slavery investigation in North India for the UK-based organization. Sincerely Rejimon Kuttappan
