About

Short version : "Triple -ics" for structural mechanics, vehicle dynamics and robotics A bit longer : mechanical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in CAE in the automotive industry. I have worked during the five past years on simulation of vehicle dynamics and ADAS, and I have very recently switched to a new experience in robotics. Identified by my friends and family as a petrolhead (2 and 4 wheels), I enjoy learning new things, building up and sharing knowledge, solving problems, establishing links between disciplines, confronting simulations and test results. I also happen to be a moderate geek who enjoys coding simple tools that make repetitive tasks easier. I learned Perl at the beginning of the millenium, now trying to be as proficient in Python. I also have fun using Matlab/Simulink, and I learned PHP/MySQL only to develop my own wine cellar management tool :) As a result I have a solid multidisciplinary background in the CAE world, with a broad perspective both on 3D and 0D/1D simulation. In addition I speak French, English, a bit of Spanish, enough Italian to survive, Python, Matlab, Perl, Powershell, a bit of Julia and Bash TOEIC : 975

  • Leader of an R&D project for Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, dedicated to the development of a new simulation software for vehicle dynamics, in partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software.
  • This software is used not only for ride & handling assessment, but also for ESC homologation, ADAS simulation on HPC, etc ... Vehicle models are also used on driving simulators and in MIL/SIL/HIL context for systems simulation.
  • Also in charge of the development of a custom virtual driver used to simulate all the scenarios required for ADAS development, including Euro NCAP requirements (AEB 2020 and 2022, LKA, ELK ...)
  • Trying to bridge the gap between MBSE and the 0D/1D simulation world ...

Chassis NVH & Durability

  • Tried to answer the following questions for road noise FEA :
  • what are the right moments to use FEA in the V-Model for chassis design ?
  • how to handle the tire question ? By working with superelements provided by OEMs, or by trying to build a detailed FE model via identification methods ?
  • what about the bushings ? Is the characterization of the dynamic stiffnesses on a limited set of operating points enough ? Do we really need to take couplings into account ? What about preload ?
  • ... and for rear axle (twist beam) durability :
  • how to assess damage in virtual road simulations ? (via modal superposition method)
  • do we correlate with dynamic tests ? (comparison between virtual strain gauges and "real ones")
  • how to compare with quasi-static tests ?
  • how to specify quasi-static tests that allow to get the targeted damage ratios (wrt RLDA) ?
  • I developed a new methodology, relying upon virtual road load simulation, coupling finite element analyses and multibody simulations.
