About

I have over 20 years of work experience in the tech field and specialize in using Ruby on Rails. I love Ruby and am curating a weekly newsletter about Ruby at https://newsletter.shortruby.com and maintaining a directory of resources to learn Ruby at https://rubyandrails.info I sometimes write technical articles about Ruby at https://allaboutcoding.ghinda.com I worked at Cookpad, which uses one of the most extensive Rails codebases. I have used my Senior Ruby on Rails developer skills to contribute to the Cookpad web platform. I've enjoyed teaming up with people from different departments to create novel features for our product. Before that, I was a founding member and senior engineer at Acertivo, a web app to improve mental health. This project let me design an application from scratch and manage a part-time development team that worked on growing our app. I also acted in senior backend engineer roles at Highstreet Mobile, where I built high-performant REST APIs using Ruby on Rails and Sinatra. As an Innovation Product Owner at METRO SYSTEMS Romania, I led a team that fosters an innovative culture and drives disruptive product innovation. In this unique mix of senior developer and product owner role, I was responsible for implementing innovation frameworks and methodologies like Design Thinking and Design Sprint. I also facilitated brainstorming sessions for new ideas and worked closely with the Innovation Group and management to fast-track MVP or proof of concept implementations. Through my venture, Ghinda.com, I have been focusing on delivering a product that can help the end user and managing all the different parts involved in delivering this software. I enjoy teaching tech-related subjects and creating learning experiences. I have created various training that helps IT professionals learn new skills in programming, giving them a chance to keep learning and developing in their careers. As part of my passion for teaching, I co-founded 2013 an organization called DevAcademy, where I was a mentor and built a team of senior developers teaching juniors hard and soft skills. In all my positions, I always kept my programming skills current. I continued using Ruby to augment or automate my job even when I worked as Engineering Manager and Innovation Product owner. In short, I bring a strong technical ability, experience in managing teams, and a deep understanding of the software industry. I am excited to identify new ways to use technology to advance our understanding of the world and improve our lives.
