About

I am currently an active angel investor with close to a dozen pre-seed / seed stage investments into Indian startups. My thesis is primarily hinged on two premises - 1) India is going to be a key engine of growth for the world in the coming decades, and 2) This growth will have to be driven by an India (Bharat) that elevates all sections of its society - and not just the top / rich 1%. Any honest, credible and capable founders building solutions to contribute to this vision are on my radar. Before getting active in the startup ecosystem as an investor and mentor, I spent over a decade at Goldman Sachs working in various roles across Research and Global Banking and Markets in India and Hong Kong. In my last and longest role, I ran some of the flagship thematic conferences at the firm for the APAC region, giving me a front row seat to the exciting things happening in Asia across industries with a special focus on the TMT and consumer spaces. In this capacity, I engaged with C-suite of companies across APAC ranging from the very early stage privates to large publicly listed companies and often seeing them grow from the former to the latter. The switch to my passionate interest in the startup ecosystem was incidentally triggered by my decision to quit my corporate life at GS and be a full time stay-at-home-dad and shift bases from HK to India, as a result also allowing me to own my time and invest it as I saw fit. Angel investing became a key part of that pivot - filling the hours I wasn’t doing my day job of being a dad / homemaker. Open to connect and explore synergies.
