Career break

Professional development

Nov 2023 – Dec 2023 Ā· 1 mo

  • I hatched a plan that was about as well-thought-out as a cat's strategy for chasing a laser pointer. I'd take a break, enroll in AI courses, and transform myself from a mere mortal into a data-wrangling superhero. My mission? To vanquish spreadsheets with the power of Python and bring justice to the land of big data.
  • So, I made the bold decision to take a break from my current job and delve into the world of AI. During this hiatus, I would immerse myself in AI courses, collaborate with experts, and stay updated with the latest advancements. It was a leap of faith, a departure from the familiar, but it was driven by a deep passion and a desire to align my career with my true calling.

Pearldoc

CTO and co-owner

Apr 2004 – Oct 2007 Ā· 3 yrs 6 mos

  • šŸš€Responsible for all releases up to 4.0 of our Enterprise Content Management Suite; scoping architectural design, defining features and also created a strategy for developing an API component, permitting us to generate additional revenue. API is sold as OEM and was used by major software vendors (e.g. http://www.side-international.com/) in their products.
  • šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’¼Managed several smaller projects, with average budgets ranging from €50,000 to €100,000. Researched and set up an outsourcing organizational structure in Belarus which meant a huge cost-saving on our development. The success with these teams was implementing SCRUM for our development. Additionally I led and managed our office in Sharjah (Emirates) where we employed several developers working on our product development lifecycle. Managed 3 people in Belgium, 2 in Sharjah and 5 people in Belarus. Regularly traveled abroad to meet clients, and visited the Sharjah office / outsourcing partner in Belarus.
  • šŸ„‡Led and managed the production department in a structured and profitable fashion. In late 2006, the operational management was handed over to me because the owner was diagnosed with cancer. During this period I performed the interim-management and my mission was to find a take-over candidate. The owner died in February and I managed to operate the company until July when I found a take-over candidate (http://www.investik.eu/), and assisted them in the due diligence and the acquisition. document management tasks. This permitted large end-user accounts important cost-savings because of the automated workflow and thus resulting in minimal manual labor.
