Usman is a versatile multi-award-winning social entrepreneur and founder of Date Sultan. Usman is the CEO and founder of Date Sultan. A social enterprise which procures the finest premium dates ensuring every date is ethically sourced, free from modern slavery and occupied territories. Date Sultan is now based full time in London’s iconic Borough Market, can be found across various pop ups nationally and via e-commerce. In Usman’s previous life, he was the founder of Diversity Hut, a social enterprise which helps organisations not only become inclusive, but also attract diversity. Diversity Hut went on to create over 72 jobs for people from disadvantaged backgrounds; and consulted with various multi-national organisations on D&I. Prior to that, Usman worked for FTSE 250 based Engineering Companies in a variety of roles ranging from Quantity Surveying, Performance Manager, Innovation Manager, Diversity Lead including a secondment into Thames Tideway as their Supply Chain Engagement and Diversity Lead. Usman is a Chartered Member with the Chartered Quality Institute. As of 2018/19, Usman became a fellow of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and travelled to the USA, UAE and Asia to explore what the world is doing in regards to Diversity. He also was the recipient of the ‘Community Impact’ award at the World Congress Of Muslim Philanthropists Awards.

I will also represent Costain and Tideway East at the Professional Development Network.
  • I will also lead STEM Volunteering and the mentoring of local small businesses and social enterprises as they are key to our approach. Together with 'Tideway', the JV Partners and the other delivery teams we aim to deliver some pioneering legacy outcomes that will reconnect Londoners with the River Thames.
