As a Motion Design Project Instructor, I guided a group of 35 students through a 4-week final semester design project focused on motion design. During this time, I taught students a variety of techniques and tricks for creative direction, storyboarding, style frames, sound design, and editing for their motion design videos.

Visiting Faculty Stop motion Course

During my recent stint at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, I had the privilege of teaching third-year B.Des students the intricacies of stop-motion animation. Over three weeks, I introduced them to the basic techniques, methods, and puppet armature essential for creating successful stop-motion animation.
The course began with an overview of the history and evolution of stop-motion animation. We discussed the various forms that this medium has taken over the years and explored how it has been used in feature films, television, and advertising. From there, we delved into the nitty-gritty of stop motion animation, starting with basic techniques such as the use of clay and paper cut-outs, pixelation, morphing, and replacement technique to create animations.
As the course progressed, we covered more advanced topics such as building puppet armatures, and the wire skeletons that give stop-motion characters their range of motion. We also discussed using lighting and camera angles to enhance the visual appeal of stop-motion animation. Finally, the students were split into groups of 4 and had to do a 1-minute film where they had to use and implement all their learning throughout the course.
