Ajitabh Sharma, IAS — CEO
With 30 years of experience in various leadership positions in the government, Ajitabh firmly believes that public utility services in water, energy, food, waste, mobility, housing, and communications play the most critical role in sustainability as a goal and sustainable development as a pathway to achieve it. These 7 Services weave our lives — and, how we develop and manage them would make or break our socio-economic fabric of the future. Ajitabh has been felicitated, for his contributions to public service, by the: - Hon’ble President of India (2012), - Hon’ble Vice President of India (2003), - Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan (2023), - Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan (2013), - Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan (2025), and the - Hon’ble Union Minister of Water Resources (2015). Ajitabh has worked as Chairman/Managing Director of a large number of public utilities viz. the state renewable energy corporation, solar park development corporation, power purchase company, power transmission company, electricity distribution utilities, irrigation board, metro rail corporation, city bus transport company, state gas limited, state beverages corporation, mines and minerals corporation, state information-communication services limited, state industrial development corporation, industrial corridor development corporation; and as a director on the company boards of power generation company. Most of these utilities deal with essential public services, have huge sunk capital costs and grapple with corporate governance, financial, and service-provision pricing issues. As a public utility management enthusiast, Ajitabh successfully improved the service delivery of these organisations both on quantitative and qualitative parameters. Business operations were made more transparent and red tape was cut down. Challenges were immense, but improved corporate governance had been the key to utilities’ transformations. In all utilities, the central idea had been to base the decision-making on the Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles for achieving the long-term goal of sustainability. Under his current role as Additional Chief Secretary Energy to the Government, Ajitabh continues honing skills and gaining further expertise in Public Utility Management focusing primarily to make Rajasthan a pioneer state in the country by creating sustainable energy systems in the state.
