Dr. Michael Meneghini — CEO
Years ago, I had an "aha moment" that changed the trajectory of my career. I was standing in a boardroom at a large hospital system, still in my scrubs, fresh out of surgery. I looked around the table and saw a room full of administrators. I realized I was the only person in the room generating revenue, yet I had the least control. I was taking the risk and delivering the care. They were setting the schedules and controlling the resources. Meanwhile, the gap between the cost of care and the quality delivered was widening. I decided then that I wasn't just going to complain about the broken system; I was going to build the solution. The path to excellence has never been easy. Growing up in Terre Haute, I watched my mother work three jobs to drag us out of poverty. That experience taught me that talent is nothing without "Grit." It’s what drove me to graduate at the top of my engineering class at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology when they told us 50% would fail. It’s what drove me to master not just surgery, but the business of medicine. If we can master efficiency and protect the doctor-patient relationship, we can fix healthcare. I’ve performed over 10,000 hip and knee replacements and published over 225 peer-reviewed papers. But my greatest work is disrupting the status quo. I founded the Indiana Orthopedic Institute to prove that a surgeon-led, research-driven model delivers better outcomes at a lower cost than bloated hospital systems. No matter how skilled a surgeon you are, if you don’t understand the economics of healthcare, you are fighting with one hand tied behind your back. I work with the highest-level surgeons and industry leaders to innovate implant design, streamline ASC operations, and restore autonomy to physicians. Now, I use this platform to advocate for the future of Orthopedics. Founder & CEO, Indiana Orthopedic Institute President, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (2025) Chief Market Development Officer, HOPCo Father of 6, Husband Unapologetic advocate for the independent practice of medicine I went from being pulled out of the OR by administrators... To building a vertically integrated model where the patient and the surgeon are back at the center of the equation.
