• I was mainly responsible for the core backend, business intelligence/analytics and the infra platforms. I also helped with team management across engineering and analytics teams, and recruitment for key positions. Regularly performed 1-1 meeting with team members to make sure Kiwi was helping them achieve career goals.
• Core Backend - Implemented the highly available and scalable php-based gaming backend which was used for all the different app-store based versions (android, iOS and amazon). Also developed Content CMS platform with localization, and A/B testing support. Implemented the bandwidth efficient cliet-server sync mechanism to preserve game state on the server.
• Analytics Platform - Designed and implemented lambda-architecture based BI platform to handle and process millions of streaming events (~10TB of monthly data) on top of Google BigQuery (earlier Vertica). It comprised of an events sdk, real-time dashboard, reporting engine, Games and UA tracking dashboard.
• Infrastructure - With a team of 3 devops engineers, managed the infrastructure to make sure it was up and running 24x7 handling millions of daily active users, and constantly improved it to so that developers could deploy releases/hot-fixes in a seamless manner - using open source tech e.g. git, jenkins, rundeck, puppet, etcd, nagios, ganglia etc.
