• Research in Mathematical Physics.
• Most sciences do not utilise the notion of "proof". In Physics for example, the complicated mathematical theories they propose to describe the universe are not formed on a backbone of rigorous logic. Instead, the physicist relies on experimental justifications, and their theories are only as strong as the evidence behind them.
• A mathematician on the other hand can prove things by extending the implications of a set of assumptions using only rigorous logic. The cost is of course that the proof is only as valid as the set of assumptions.
• A mathematical physicist is a mathematician who constructs the missing rigour behind the work of Physics, or is a mathematician who discovers new abstract mathematics motivated by Physics. My work was devoted to formulating mathematics behind "T-duality" in String Theory, which is the supposed "Grand Theory of Everything".
