About

16 years scaling startups as a Chief People Officer. 1,500+ hires. 5 continents. $1B+ in exits. The Athletic to NYT for $550M. Getaround to IPO. Managed by Q to WeWork. I've built people functions from zero, scaled them through hypergrowth, and held them together through acquisitions, international expansion, and everything in between. Compensation frameworks, performance systems, leveling architecture, recruiting engines for engineers, creators, executives, and every kind of in-demand talent. After my last in-house role, I launched People Intelligence, a consultancy focused on AI-native people operations with startup clients in tech, biotech, and AI. I've been helping founders build hybrid workforces and scalable people infrastructure, designing agentic AI systems for HR workflows, analytics, and process automation. The future of work isn't human vs. AI. It's human + AI, and most companies aren't ready. Launching the consultancy also gave me the flexibility to welcome my wife and I's first son, Roman, and to be present for his earliest moments. Now I'm ready to bring everything I've built, the operator experience, the AI expertise, and the scar tissue from scaling five companies across five continents, back to a full-time leadership role. Looking for a CPO or senior People leadership position at a growth-stage company that's building something worth building. Evergreen select

Chief Strategy Officer & Chief People Officer

Aug 2022Mar 2024 · 1 yr 7 mos · Los Angeles, California, United States · On-site

  • Evergreen Select (formerly Omeat) is a Google Ventures-backed biotech company that has raised over $55M to build a proprietary cell-cultivation platform and scalable biomanufacturing infrastructure to produce low-carbon proteins at commercial scale.
  • As Chief Strategy Officer & Chief People Officer, I served as the connective tissue between our science, business, go-to-market, and regulatory functions:
  • Commercialization & Strategy: Partnered with the Head of R&D to translate our scientific pipeline into a go-to-market roadmap, defining the path from lab-scale innovation to commercial production. Helped position the company's B2B model to integrate directly into existing meat distribution networks across the US and Singapore.
  • Regulatory & Government Affairs: Led FDA engagement strategy, navigating the novel regulatory framework for emerging biotechnology. Worked closely with our former FDA regulator (now CTO) to advance the company through regulatory review in multiple markets.
  • Talent & Scaling: Built the People & Talent function from zero, recruiting PhD scientists, bioprocess engineers, and technical operators in a highly competitive market. Scaled the team during a critical growth phase while maintaining high hiring bars.
  • Cross-Functional Operations: Operationalized R&D workflows to accelerate development cycles, including scaling bioreactor capacity from 200L to 10,000L. Bridged the gap between scientific research and business milestones — the same challenge facing AI companies moving from model development to production.

Sword health

Chief People Officer & Executive Consultant

Sep 2021Aug 2022 · 11 mos · Los Angeles, California, United States

  • Sword Health is the world's fastest-growing virtual musculoskeletal care provider, now valued at $4B with $450M+ raised from Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, and Sapphire Ventures. On a mission to free two billion people from chronic pain, Sword pairs licensed physical therapists with FDA-listed AI technology to deliver clinical-grade care at scale.
  • As interim Chief People Officer, I was brought in to build the People, Culture, and Talent function from the ground up during a period of exponential growth:
  • International Scaling: Stood up People infrastructure across North America, Europe, and Australia simultaneously. Designed org structures and employment frameworks that supported rapid international expansion while navigating multi-jurisdiction compliance across healthcare-regulated markets.
  • Talent & Hiring: Built the recruiting engine during one of the most competitive talent markets in a decade. Attracted clinical, engineering, and product talent to a health-tech company competing against Big Tech compensation packages — while maintaining high hiring bars and cultural alignment.
  • Culture at Scale: Established Sword's People programs with the explicit goal of making Sword the best place to work in healthcare. Designed onboarding, performance, and engagement systems that preserved the company's patient-first ethos as headcount scaled rapidly across distributed, multi-country teams.
  • Executive Partnership: Worked directly with the founder/CEO and executive team to align People strategy with business milestones — including fundraising, product launches, and market expansion.
