Dr. Mahesh B — Head of Design
Dr. Mahesh B. obtained his BSc, MSc, and PhD from the University of Mysore. Currently, serving as a Professor of Chemistry and the Dean of Research at JSS Academy of Technical Education in Bengaluru. His major research interests include natural chemistry, peptide-based polymers, biosensors, electrochemical sensors, and synthetic organic chemistry. Dr. Mahesh has one granted patent from Indian patent office and published the other Indian patent and authored over 80 research papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals, as well as five textbooks. Under his supervision, three students have been awarded PhD degrees, one has successfully completed an M.Phil., and six more are currently pursuing their PhDs. He, has been an active researcher for the past 16 years, currently developing alternative biomaterials for cosmetic therapy and tissue engineering. He has delivered numerous invited and plenary lectures at national and international conferences and workshops. Dr. Mahesh's research team has been awarded the silver medal twice by the International Jury of InnoWings for their project titled "Insights into the Physicochemical Characteristics and Chitosan/Polypeptide and Collagen/Polypeptide Blends: Promising Materials for Wound Healing." He has also received government funding to develop peptide-based polymer blends for therapeutic applications in skin care. He has been invited as a visiting scientist to the Department of Biomaterials and Cosmetic Chemistry at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, under the IDUB program for collaborative research, and by Miyazaki University in Japan as part of the Sakura Science Exchange program. Dr. Mahesh serves as a reviewer for several WOS and Scopus journals, including Carbohydrate Polymers, International Journal of Biological Macromolecules (Elsevier), ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering, Polymers (MDPI), Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy (Elsevier), and Journal of Applied Polymer Science (Wiley, USA). Additionally, he is an editorial member of the International Journal of Applied Biology and Pharmaceutical Technology (Fortune Journals, USA) and the Journal of Material Science and Technology Research (France). He was the Bentham Ambassador for 2019-20 and has adjudicated PhD theses at MAHE, University of Kerala, Anna University, Bharathiyar University, and VTU. Dr. Mahesh is a life member of the Indian Science Congress Association in Kolkata and serves on the BOE/BOS and VTU Nominee for BOS of an autonomous institution.
