About

Started my career performing experimental nuclear physics research at Jefferson Lab, then walked away from a fully funded PhD because I wanted to build, not publish. Now I'm building Grove, a platform where AI (agents) and fans pay creators instantly for their content using micropayments across the open web. Before this, my team and I built Pocket Network into a successful decentralized infrastructure protocol. It's processed over a trillion API requests and the chain reached a $1B market cap multiple times. It's going strong today. I've led Mobile Payments at Capital One and SaaS Engineering at The Washington Post. Built mobile apps used by hundreds of millions. Taught over a hundred dev courses. Contributed to Apple's Swift programming language and have earned 11,000+ GitHub stars building open source tools.

  • AI depends on human content, but creators have no way to get paid for it. Grove is that mechanism. Micropayments, onchain, so humans and AI agents can pay creators anywhere on the web.
  • Before pivoting into micropayments, we built Pocket Network, a blockchain protocol that processed over a trillion API requests and is still going strong today. During multiple times in its career, it reached a $1B market cap. We raised $7.9M, shipped the full technical vision, and scaled it into one of the oldest and most widely used decentralized data networks ever deployed. It's now stewarded by the Pocket Network Foundation.

University of maryland medical center

Medical Physics Research Fellow

Jun 2007May 2008 · 11 mos · Baltimore, Maryland

  • Wrote software in C++/MatLab that was used to extract four-dimensional lung-tumor data from inoperable patients. This data was used by medical physicists at UMMC to determine if there existed space-time points that would allow an increase in dosage distribution to improve the probability of tumor eradication during irradiation without hitting a vital organ. The data I extracted proved that most patients lung-tumors were too close to the heart during all phases of breathing. The machinery available at the time would not be able to increase the dosage for the minute time-window available without having, on average, a 29% chance of hitting the heart. My research advisors were looking for figures closer to 5%.
