• One of my tasks was to optimize the homepage of a public-facing site.
• The goal was to optimize a provided website with several optimizations- and
• performance-related issues so that it achieves a target PageSpeed score and
• runs at required frames per second
• I used google page speed https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/
• insights/ to get the statistical analysis of elements, which were causing the page to slow
• down.
• I tried a lot of ways like loading the HTML content before other scripts, loading
• Google fonts asynchronously, loading heavier JavaScript, and google fonts at
• a lower priority, which was affecting page speed and load time to a greater
• extent.
• But, the problem was all of the above didn't give the desired result and the
• efficiency improved was not enough.
• Fixes :
• Optimized images.
• Eliminated render-blocking JS and CSS in the fold content.
• Leverage browser caching.
• Enabled compression.

• For authentication and user management, Thimble uses Webmaker OAuth which consists of the Webmaker ID System (source managed in id.webmaker.org) and the Webmaker Login API (source managed in login.webmaker.org).
• All three services are bundled together using Git subtrees to be run together using Vagrant, or, they may be run separately with Thimble manually.
