The National Short Film Festival (NSFF) is organised by the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Pune University every year and has a huge response from all the short film making enthusiasts. The brief was to create a trophy for the festival that tells a story and honors the unsung heroes of the Indian cinema.
The SARASWATI takes inspiration from Saraswati Phalke, the FIRST INDIAN FILM EDITOR as well as the first woman technician; her contribution is representation of a heroic spirit in the early era of Indian Cinema. She assisted her husband Dadasaheb Phalke, India's first filmmaker and edited his films since the technique was unknown at that time.
