Sunita Radia started her journey in the year 2000. She came from the ultra-conservative land of Jharkhand, and landed in Mumbai with a dream to become a cinematographer. She neither had a film school background nor any contacts in the Hindi Film Industry. It was an uphill task but she managed to get an internship on the sets of SLB’s ‘Devdas’. As luck would have it, she was surrounded by legends in her very first film! She assisted legendary cinematographer Mr. Binod Pradhan and watched the master filmmaker Mr. Bhansali create a masterpiece! ‘Devdas’ turned out to be the perfect foundation and set her on a path to bigger challenges. She went on to assist for seven more years on projects like ‘Tara Rum Pum’, ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Heroes’, among others. She also started taking up independent jobs like Ad films and music videos with prominent directors. All set with a massive amount of experience to back her, she found her first project as a DOP for Feature films with ‘Aalaap – ek nayi Roshani’. She went on to shoot films like ‘Jal’, ‘Saadey CM saab’ among others. Soon she was working with the best in the business. She went on to shoot Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Baadshaho’, Vivek Oberoi starrer ‘PM Narendra modi’, Nawazuddin Starrer ‘Rome Rome Mein’ to name a few. The secret to her success in this tough line of work is to be tougher. She believes that fear limits an individual and their vision. It serves as a blinder to what may be just a few steps down the road. The journey is valuable, and it requires being fearless and believing in yourself. She also believes that in such a journey we often make mistakes, but it’s all about how we learn from those mistakes and bounce back. They set us on the path we are meant to be on. She is always willing and ready to guide the younger lot who have dreams to pursue. And so, Sunita continues her beautiful journey with a lot of pride and self-esteem.
